Mamma Mia Makeover

BATHROOM

With Mediterranean blue floor tile, hand-painted Greek tiles, and a glass-block wall in the shower, this bathroom had us singing “Mamma Mia Here We Go Again.” The homeowners desired a bright, fresh, bathroom with added privacy for the shower/tub area, so sadly, the decorative tile medallion, which their children referred to affectionately as the “pizza” had to go. We completely demoed the bathroom down to the studs, or lack thereof (the exterior walls were plaster over brick). The glass blocks were replaced with a simple fixed-pane window set higher to provide privacy and oodles of natural light, and a marble-trimmed niche was set below the window to provide symmetry. Designed by Kelly Witt Design + Decoration (including a custom shower curtain), we love how the traditional finishes pair with more modern details like the skirted toilet, and straight stacked subway tile.
